1. Lawn Professionals Renovate In September 🌱

👉Why September to Mid-October is the Best Time to Seed Your Lawn

If you're thinking about seeding your lawn, don’t wait, late summer to early autumn is arguably the best window of the year.

Here’s why:

  1. Ideal Soil Temperatures 🌱
The soil is still warm enough to encourage quick germination.

  2. More Rainfall 🌧️
Increased autumn showers provide natural moisture to support healthy growth.

  3. Less Weed Competition 🌿
Weeds are slowing down, giving your new grass a better chance to thrive without interference.

  4. Stronger Root Development 🌾
Grass roots establish more deeply before winter, leading to a thicker, more resilient lawn.

Don’t forget you can use your discount on The Lawn Pack for a complete renovation within 4 weeks or your money back!

2. Mowing ✂️

Mow your lawn around once or twice a week, but as we head into October and growth tapers off, feel free to ease up on mowing.

3. Fertilising 👷🏼‍♂️

⭐️ Applying a quality autumn granular fertiliser will give your lawn a lovely green colour while preparing the roots for the incoming colder month.

⭐️ An NPK ratio of around 10-3-10 is ideal as it provides enough nitrogen for green growth (not too much as you don’t want to encourage a lot of soft, disease-prone growth at this time of year). It also has high potassium to strengthen the grass plant in the cooler periods.

💡 If you’re looking for an easy solution for what to apply, The Autumn Pack provides the exact nutrients your lawn needs over the next few months plus a biostimulant to further deepen the roots and enhance the effects of the fertiliser.

4. Deal With Underlying Conditions ⚙️

To give your lawn the best chance of thriving through the colder months - and long term - now is the perfect time to tackle any underlying issues.

Here’s how to deal with common lawn problems before winter sets in:

  • Compaction / Poor Drainage
→ Use hollow-tine aeration to relieve soil compaction and improve drainage.

  • High Thatch / Spongy Texture / Dead Grass
Scarify or rake with a spring tine rake to remove thatch and allow new growth to flourish.

  • Moss
→ Apply iron sulphate diluted in water, wait 7 days for the moss to turn black, then rake it out and dispose.

  • Weeds
→ Spot-treat using Weedol for Lawns or another selective weedkiller.

  • Leatherjackets / Chafer Grubs
→ Apply leatherjacket or chafer grub nematodes to control these pests naturally.

  • Ants
→ Apply a course of ant nematodes (ideally 3 treatments if time allows), then follow up with Ant Stop, targeting deep into the nest.

There’s September sorted ✅

Stick to these simple steps and your lawn will be thanking you over the next 6 months.
